This has allowed EAST to participate and play a significant role in the development of maritime policies relating to shipments of cargo and the legislation of shipping rules by US Government agencies, including:

EAST has developed close working relationships with management and senior leadership of these agencies, granting the firm unique expertise in information related to U.S. maritime policy, decision making at various government agencies, and shipping requirements under this legislation.

The United States Congress is at the center of maritime policy making, and EAST has built a strong reputation with the Chairman and Ranking Members of the most important committees for the maritime industry, including the Foreign Affairs and Foreign Relations Committees, Armed Services Committees, Agricultural Committees, and Transportation Committees.

EAST frequently advises policymakers on new legislation to:

Strengthen the US Flag shipping industry

Enact new initiatives in the industry, and

Report on federal agency compliance with existing maritime programs.

These relationships with key Congressional leaders allow EAST to stay at the forefront of maritime policymaking in the US, and EAST management works closely with elected representatives to analyze existing policies, propose new maritime programs, and understand newly proposed legislation that will impact various stakeholders in the global shipping industry.

EAST maintains close relationships with a large number of shipping and commodity principals and global brokerage houses around the world. This provides the firm immediate access to the most up-to-date information regarding the prevailing and expected ocean freight rates, commodity prices, and fuel trends. This network has been an invaluable asset, enabling EAST to provide prompt, cost effective services to its clients over the years.
